First-Year Arts Advising and Registration Day

Starting a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Environmental Studies this Fall? We'd love to welcome you to campus!

Join the Academic Advisors in the Faculty of Arts for First-Year Arts Advising & Registration Day - a supportive, hands-on opportunity to help you get set up for success. 

Attendees will:

  • Learn how to plan your first-year courses and understand degree requirements
  • Receive a step-by-step registration walkthrough
  • Register for your courses with Advisors to help
  • Connect with other incoming Arts students

You're also invited to stay for optional Campus Tours following your session. Light refreshments will be provided.

Location: Arts Commons (Room 214) in the McNally Building (923 Robie Street)
Choose one session:         

  • Session 1
    • 10:00-10:30 Registration Demonstration and Degree Planning
    • 10:30-11:00 Supported Registration with Academic Advising
    • 11:00-11:45 Optional Campus Tour or Continued Registration Support 
  • Session 2
    • 11:30-12:00 Registration Demonstration and Degree Planning
    • 12:00-12:30 Supported Registration with Academic Advising
    • 12:30-1:15 Optional Campus Tour or Continued Registration Support 

An additional Campus Tour will leave at 1:15 to accommodate break time.

  • Paid your admission deposit  
  • Set up your Banner account
  • Recommended:  A Laptop or tablet. A limited number of computers available for use.

Welcome to the BA Advising Centre!

BA Academic Advisors support students in the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Environmental Studies programs. We recommend meeting with an advisor at least once a year to stay on track with your academic goals.

The BA Advising Centre offers both in-person and virtual appointments, which can be booked below. Students pursuing a psychology major, double major, honours, concentration, or minor should select the Psychology Academic Advising option. All other students should book through Arts Academic Advising button.

Appointments can be booked up to two weeks in advance. If no times are available, please check again the next day as new slots open regularly. You may also email your questions or attend drop-in hours.

  • The Counselling Centre can assist and offer support whether you're dealing with exam stress or mental health issues. A healthy mind is key to academic success.

  • The Patrick Power Library is a great place to research topics and information for papers, projects and more. Log in with your s# for access to an abundance of online and print resources. If you could use some research assistance, one of the librarians would be glad to help you.

  • The Writing Centre can help with planning your papers all the way through to checking your citation formatting, with tutorials, handouts, workshops, or one-on-one appointments.
