    • SJCS invites applications for a Tenure-track Appointment (Assistant or Associate) centering Indigenous knowledges and methodologies, with a start date of July 1, 2024. 

    We seek a critically engaged Indigenous scholar from Turtle Island, with a demonstrated teaching, research, community-engaged commitment to Indigenous knowledges and methodologies. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong skills and/or experience with anti-colonial/decolonizing research and working with Indigenous communities, and an ability to teach undergraduate courses in their areas of expertise, strengthening the Department’s course offerings and community-engaged focus. The Department of SJCS is committed to equity and diversity as essential to academic excellence. Lived experience of colonization and Indigeneity, particularly on Turtle Island, will be a crucial dimension in considering applicants and this is a targeted search for candidates who self-identify as Indigenous (L’nu or other First Nation, Métis, Inuit).

    • SJCS is seeking Part-time Faculty to teach an SJCS Special Topics in Social Justice & Community Studies for Fall 2023 with a July 26 application deadline:

    Special Topics in Social Justice & Community Studies

    Semester: Fall 2023, 06/09-20/12

    Schedule: Fall 2023, MW 2:30-3:45pm; On Campus or Remote Synchronous

    Qualifications:

    Preferred applicant will minimally have a Masters in a relevant field or be currently completing a relevant Masters degree. They will have recent experience teaching at the postsecondary level, and a thorough knowledge (including through lived experience) of, intersectional approaches to a specialized topic in Social Justice & Community Studies. Candidates with demonstrated community-engaged research and teaching will be preferred. The Department especially welcomes applications from faculty who can teach a 3000-level Special Topics course with current relevance in an area not currently covered by SJCS courses. In the quest for academic excellence, Social Justice & Community Studies considers lived experience at the intersections of racialization, colonization, Indigeneity to be a crucial qualification for this position.
