Sandra Irving is a strong advocate of post secondary education in creating mentorship and scholarship opportunities for students in Canada and the United States.
She is a member of the Executive committee of RSC: The Academies of Arts, Humanities and Sciences and is also Co-Chair of the RSC Extending Excellence Fundraising Campaign. She serves on the Roosevelt Campobello International Park Commission, the Junior Achievement New Brunswick Business Hall of Fame Boards as Past Chair, the President's Leadership Council at Dartmouth college, and the President's International Alumni council of the University of Toronto.
She was actively involved in the planning and development of the K.C. Irving Environmental Science Centre and the Harriet Irving botanical Gardens for Acadia University. Over the years, she has served on the boards of the New Brunswick Region 2 Health authority, the University of New Brunswick, and several other public service organizations.
Sandra Irving received a Bachelor of Arts with distinction from the University of New Brunswick, as well as a Master of Arts in Political Science from the University of Toronto. Her research focus was educational policy and the Politics of Identity. She received an Honorary Doctor of Letters from the University of New Brunswick in October 2009.
The honorary degree from Saint Mary's recognizes Sandra Irving's devotion to secondary education by creating mentorship and scholarship opportunities and her dedication to humanities and public service.
