Senator E. Leo Kolber has contributed to Canada's political, business and cultural realms. Senator Kolber was summoned to the Senate of Canada in 1983. He holds a B.A. and B.C.L. from McGill University.
A lawyer by profession, Senator Kolber is well known for having established The Cadillac Fairview Corporation which became one of the world's leading real estate developers responsible for landmark buildings such as Toronto's Eaton Centre and Vancouver's Pacific Centre.
For almost three decades, Senator Kolber was President of CEMP Investments. During his tenure, CEMP concentrated on the development of real estate in Canada, the United States and Europe.
Senator Kolber has served on numerous boards. He was a Director of the Seagram Company Ltd. From 1971 to 1999; The Toronto-Dominion Bank from 1971-1998 and Loews Cineplex Entertainment Corporation from 1998- 2000.
Senator Kolber was Chairman of the National Revenue Committee, Liberal Party of Canada. He is active in community, social, cultural and philanthropic activities. In 1996, Senator Kolber was honoured by Concordia University with a Doctor of Laws Honoris Causa. He will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws from Saint Mary's University.
