Dani?le Sauvageau received an Honorary Doctorate of Civil Law for her leadership in international athletics. She is a graduate of the Universit? de Montr?al and of the RCMP Academy in Regina and is currently a member of the Montreal Community Urban Police Force, with five years in the narcotics division.
She has been a hockey coach for 18 years and has coached the national Women's Olympic team since 1994. Last winter, she led Canada's Olympic team to a gold medal in hockey, making them the first Canadian Olympic hockey team to take home the top medal in 50 years. Before the Olympics, Sauvageau coached the gold medal winning teams in the 1995 Pacific Rim Women's Championship in California, the inaugural 3-Nations Cup in Ottawa in 1996, and the 1997 Women's World Championship in Ontario, which was Canada's fourth straight gold medal. She was assistant coach of the Canadian Women's Hockey team that won the silver medal at the 1998 Olympics in Japan.
She coached Team Quebec when they won gold medals at the Women's National Championships in 1994, 1995 and 1996, and the gold medal at the Montr?al Cup in 1996. Sauvageau was the first female coach in Canadian junior hockey when she joined the the Montreal Rocket team in 1999.
