Accommodations

English Language Students Housing Options

The Language Centre is pleased to provide two accommodation options for students who are studying English in Canada: Homestay and Residence.

Homestay (Live with a local host family)

Living with a local host family is a wonderful way to learn more about Halifax and its culture. As part of a family, students have an excellent opportunity to practice the English language in a comfortable and safe environment.

Students living with local host families are provided with three meals a day. In many families, each person prepares their own breakfast and lunch. All students are provided with a private bedroom. Bedrooms include a bed, linens, towels, clothing storage, and study space (desk, table, etc.)

Fees

Current homestay costs are C$2000.00 per eight-week semester plus a C$325.00 initial non-refundable placement fee, which includes airport pick-up.

How to Apply for Homestay

Homestay requests must be received at least four to six weeks before the start of the semester.

To arrange placement with a local host family, simply download, print, and complete the 2024 Homestay Application Form and submit it along with the C$325.00 non-refundable application fee, by credit card, cheque, telegraphic transfer or money order in Canadian or US funds to:
