Description: This clastic sedimentary rock is dominated by medium- to fine-grained quartz, with lesser amounts of feldspar. It is a very well-sorted rock, meaning that all of the sediment grains are approximately the same size. Sandstone of the Goldenville Group in Nova Scotia was, and continues to be, a very useful ‘dimension stone’ quarried for the construction of buildings, monuments, gravestones, and walkways (e.g., The Government House - aka Lieutenant-Governor’s House, The Nova Scotia Legislature, Halifax City Hall, the Armoury).
