This stoneware has a smooth, highly vitrified fabric, which is gray in colour. The interior of the ware is often appears light brown to buff coloured, while the exterior is brown.
The ware is salt-glazed, and the brown exterior colour comes from the reaction of the clay upon firing. The exterior colour appears irregular due to the differential reaction of the clay upon firing.
The ware type is used most frequently for various types of bottles, preserve jars and jugs.
