American Redware

The term "New England" ware or "American redware" applies to a coarse lead-glazed earthenware. Vessel types include tankards, bowls, chamberpots and plates. Decoration varies, among the different examples. Decoration can be clear glaze over brown "freckles," or yellow, brown or green slip trailed designs, or dark brown glazed and cordoned.
